Solar Eclipse Celebration @ Sternberg Museum

Monday, August 21, 2017

It’s been almost 40 years since a total solar eclipse has darkened any of the continental U.S. That will change this summer with what’s expected to be the most viewed total solar eclipse in human history. A 70-mile wide shadow of the moon will race coast to coast, from near Salem, Oregon, to Charleston, South Carolina. It passes a little more than 100 miles to the north. While Hays is not in the path of totality, we will experience a deep partial eclipse. The moon will cover about 95% of the sun during maximum eclipse at 12:59 p.m. Sternberg Museum is participating in this national event with a celebration of exhibits, activities, and programs; both indoors and out.
